Jakarta – To honor PT Asuransi Jiwa Manulife Indonesia’s (Manulife Indonesia) 25^th anniversary and the company’s continuous efforts to contribute to the Indonesian community through Yayasan Manulife Peduli (Manulife Care Foundation), the company will be participating in mangrove conservation activities in Suaka Margasatwa Muara Angke (Muara Angke Wildlife Reserve) and Hutan Ekowisata Mangrove Kapuk (Kapuk Mangrove Forest Ecotourism) – Angke, where 600 mangrove seeds will be planted.

The mangrove seedling planting is expected to contribute to the future sustainability of mangroves, an important component of the wetland ecosystem, as it acts as a breeding ground for many marine organisms.

“This mangrove seedling planting is a testament to our commitment to growth, including growing together with the community in which we function, as well as growing for the long term,” says Alan Merten, President Director and CEO of Manulife Indonesia. “We hope that this community exercise will provide invaluable benefit to the community today and for future generations of Indonesians, much like the insurance and wealth management solutions we provide, which are designed to benefits to our customers today as well as their families in the future.  Manulife Indonesia, much like these precious trees, is strong, reliable and focused on the future.

The event will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 in cooperation with Jakarta Green Monster, a community of urban wetland volunteer.

Jakarta Green Monster is non-governmental organization initiated by Fauna & Flora International (FFI) Indonesia and Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (Natural Resources Conservation Center) DKI Jakarta. Jakarta Green Monster provides environmental education, conservation, and research. The group’s activities include bird monitoring, student and public environmental guidance, environmental campaigning, monitoring biodiversity, garbage clean up, replanting and more.
