Shanghai - Lifestyle changes, working pressures and poor environmental conditions from pollution, have raised the risks of dread disease in China. The costs for treating these diseases are often too high for a family to shoulder in the short term.

In response, Manulife-Sinochem Life Insurance Co. Ltd this month has launched a new Dread Disease Gold Package, “Chang Bao Wu You”, which is a powerful par product package providing comprehensive death and dread disease protection to the public.

“Chang Bao Wu You” extends to 35 kinds of diseases, including coverage for diseases such as severe Alzheimer's and severe Parkinson's Disease.

The new Dread Disease Gold Package provides a death protection and maturity benefit in addition to critical illness protection. If the insured dies in the insurance period (after age 18), the beneficiary will receive cash equal to the sum assured. If the insured survives to the age of 80 without suffering from a designated dread disease, he/she will be entitled to the living benefit equal to the full sum assured.

The policyholder also enjoys regular dividends as declared by the company.

The new Dread Disease Gold Package also offers a new additional disease coverage for Carcinoma in Situ (CIS), or cancer that has not spread. If the insured suffers a designated carcinoma (subject to the definitions and waiting period as in the contract provisions), he/she will receive additional disease benefits equal to 20% of the insurance amount. The additional disease coverage will then ease but the protection for the other 35 kinds of dread disease will be still valid till the age of 80. The CIS benefit was previously a cover for female organ CIS only. Therefore, the new product provides a significant upgrade from the previous product for this coverage.
