-- Company’s Expanding Portfolio To Spur Growth --

Hong Kong– Manulife Expo, a recruitment-fair and company exhibition, will be held on June 19, 2004 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to reveal 500-plus openings within Manulife’s insurance and financial advisor teams in Hong Kong, and to showcase the company’s diverse product and service offerings.

“The recent global merger of Manulife Financial and John Hancock Financial Services has strengthened our leadership position, and we have since strategically deepened and broadened our portfolio in Hong Kong which covers financial protection and wealth management options,” said Michael Huddart, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Hong Kong, Manulife (International) Limited (MIL).

“We are therefore hiring in this exciting time of economic recovery to support our projected strong growth for this year, especially in our wealth management business,” he added.

Michael Chan, Vice President, Distribution, Hong Kong, MIL and Chairman of the Manulife Expo Organising Committee, said, “The Expo will provide prospective recruits a chance to understand the career opportunities that are available with Manulife and familiarise themselves with our company’s strengths, our superior products, our use of technology and the strong support we provide to our advisors, employees and clients alike.”

In addition to agency positions, job opportunities in fields ranging from Accounting and Actuarial, to Customer Service and Marketing, will be presented by Manulife during the Expo.

The Expo, to be held from 2:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. at Hall 5A of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will include a wide range of activities. In addition to recruitment, Manulife will host booths that:

• Explain support programmes for Manulife advisors throughout their careers, including technology support and managerial skills development offered through Manulife University, a dedicated in-house, region-wide management training facility
• Update visitors on the company’s developments and services
• Showcase agency branches
• Explain customer services including call centres and other customer-support services
• Represent industry associations such as General Agents and Managers Association of Hong Kong and the Life Underwriters Association

The Expo will also include a full schedule of informative seminars covering topics such as career development, financial planning, Hong Kong’s economic recovery and childhood mental development.

Mr. Huddart continued, “We firmly believe that Hong Kong continues to be a place of opportunity for all who live and work here. Manulife Expo is a natural extension of the work we do every day – we help people in Hong Kong seek a better future for themselves and their families.”

Children’s activities will be available too. Manulife’s Individual Insurance Department will stage a Smart Kids Family Fun Fair at the exhibition venue. Hundreds of local kindergarten kids who participated in a colouring competition organised by Manulife earlier this year will be invited to join.

Another highlight of the event is a “Better Future” Lucky Draw to give out fabulous prizes including round-trip air tickets, travel packages, shopping coupons and electronic products.
