Manulife Announces New Senior Appointments

Hong Kong– Manulife Financial (stock code: 0945), a Canadian-based leading financial services provider, has announced the appointment of two senior executives in its Asian Division. Manulife (International) Limited (MIL), a member of the Manulife Financial group, also announced two senior executive appointments.

David Hughes has been appointed Vice President of Individual Financial Products, MIL. He assumes overall management responsibility for the growth and development of individual financial products and services including individual life insurance, general insurance and credit card businesses at Manulife Hong Kong. With more than 18 years of insurance experience, Mr. Hughes has held many senior positions including Chief Operating Officer of the Hong Kong arm of a large UK life insurer. An actuary by profession, Mr. Hughes holds a Bachelor's Honours Degree in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from the Heriot-Watt University in the UK. He is the President of Actuarial Society of Hong Kong and a Fellow of Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland as well as a Member of the Advisory Committee for Bachelor of Business Administration Program in Insurance, Financial and Actuarial Analysis of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Ser Kee Goh has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Corporate Actuarial, MIL, responsible for the company’s participating fund management and governance as well as valuation administration. Ms Goh has more than 10 years of insurance and IT experience, with specialization in insurance risk analysis, valuation of insurance liabilities, capital management and reinsurance. Ms Goh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from King's College of University of London in the UK. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and Actuarial Society of Hong Kong.

Robert Torrance has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Real Estate, Asia, responsible for real estate management and investment in the Asian region. Prior to joining Manulife, Mr. Torrance held a number of senior positions with various multinational companies. He has extensive experience in the areas of leasing and transaction management, property and facilities management as well as consultation services and strategic planning. Mr. Torrance holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from the University of Toronto in Canada.

Lilian Wong has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Strategy and Architecture, Information Technology, Asia. Ms Wong assumes responsibility for formulating IT systems solutions, managing the macro systems architecture design, IT effectiveness and the company’s information security compliance in Hong Kong and Asia. A seasoned IT expert, Ms Wong has more than 19 years of experience in the insurance industry. She is a graduate of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, majoring in Computer Science, and is a Fellow of the Life Office Management Association.
