MFC Global names Warren A. Thomson, Executive Vice President, Global Investment Management

Boston – Warren A. Thomson has been named Executive Vice President for Global Investment Management, Donald A. Guloien, MFC Global Investment Management’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said today.

Mr. Thomson, who was MFC Global’s Executive Vice President for U.S. Fixed Income, will be responsible for continuing the growth of MFC Global’s asset management business, both in North America and abroad.

Mr. Thomson, who is based in Boston, will be responsible for the North American Equity, Infrastructure Investment and Real Estate divisions of MFC Global Investment Management and will also oversee the operation of a number of MFC Global investment subsidiaries, including Sovereign Asset Management, Declaration Management & Research, Hancock Timber Resource Group, Hancock Agricultural Investment Group, and NAL Resources.

In his previous role, Mr. Thomson was responsible for overseeing the management of all U.S. fixed income portfolios, including public bonds, private debt and mortgages for MFC Global. Prior to joining MFC Global in 2001, Mr. Thomson served as President of Norfolk Capital Partners Inc., a boutique investment bank. He was a Senior Managing Director with Newcourt Capital in the late 1990s. The early part of his career was largely spent in public accounting, culminating as a Tax Partner with Coopers and Lybrand Chartered Accountants (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).

Mr. Thomson graduated from the University of Toronto and earned a Chartered Accountant designation from the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants.
