Olympic Pin Design Contest offers golden opportunity to unleash
their creativity — before end-October cut- off
Hong Kong - With only a few weeks to go to the submission cut-off date of October 31, Manulife (International) Limited reiterated its call for customers to enter its Asia-wide Olympic Games Pin Design Contest titled “Bringing Your Dreams To Life”.
The competition is open to all Manulife customers in 10 Asian territories where it has operations. In Hong Kong, all Manulife customers with in-force life-insurance policies with the company, or membership of its Mandatory Provident Funds or Occupational Retirement Scheme, are eligible to participate.
The Gold Award winner will receive a limited-edition, 99.99% gold bar, issued by the Beijing Organising Committee and valued at US$1,300. Nine Silver Award winners will be selected and presented with gifts worth US$250 each. And all winners (Gold and Silver) will be given a framed set of Gold Award-winning pins from each of the 10 competing Asian territories.
The judging panel will consist of: Prof. Lorraine Justice, Swire Chair Professor of Design and Head of the School of Design at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong; Mr. Pang Chung, Hon. Secretary General of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong; Mr. Yeung Yau Cheung, Committee Member of the Hong Kong Sports Press Association; Mr. Ko Lai Chak and Mr. Li Ching, Men’s Doubles Table Tennis Silver Medallists at the 2004 Athens Olympics and Mr. Michael Huddart, Executive Vice President & General Manager for Hong Kong of Manulife (International) Limited.
The judges will assess the entries based on the originality of the design and its effectiveness in capturing and combining the Olympic spirit, Manulife’s theme message of “Bringing Your Dreams To Life” and the distinctive culture of Hong Kong.
“We believe that everyone has dreams — the important thing is how to bring them to reality,” commented Mr. Michael Huddart, Executive Vice President & General Manager for Hong Kong, Manulife (International) Limited. “Through this contest, we hope to help our customers ‘pin down’ their dreams and aspirations and breathe life into them by means of their inspiring designs.” He urged customers to “grasp the opportunity to participate in this historic event”, pointing out that there were only two weeks left in which to do so.
The results of the Contest will be announced in January 2007 and winners will be notified by mail before December 31, 2006. Manulife will then create a limited-edition commemoration set of all the Gold Award-winning pins as part of its exclusive Olympic memorabilia.
