Hong Kong - Manulife (International) Limited has been presented with the Web Care Award Gold Prize by the Internet Professional Association (iProA) at the e-Inclusion Campaign 2006 Awards Presentation Ceremony. The award is in recognition of the Company’s effort to provide a user-friendly and easily accessible internet environment to the underprivileged community. This is the fourth consecutive year that Manulife’s Hong Kong website, www.manulife.com.hk, has been given this accolade.

The e-Inclusion Campaign, formerly known as the Web Care Campaign, was initiated by iProA, and aims to promote barrier-free Internet services to the Hong Kong general public, especially those with disabilities, senior citizens, and new immigrants, amongst others. The awards presentation ceremony was held last Saturday, October 28, 2006, to pay tribute to corporations, non-government organisations, schools, and individuals for their outstanding contributions toward bridging the digital divide over the past year.

Manulife Hong Kong’s website is again the only life insurance company website in Hong Kong to have been awarded this enviable prize, which is classified into gold and silver levels based on the degree of Web accessibility and user-friendliness. This year, more than 200 websites from more than 92 organisations earned awards; out of which, approximately 80 websites from 48 organisations reached the Gold Prize level – Manulife is proud to be one of them.

Organisations awarded the Gold Prize had to pass stringent examination processes that were administered by a judging panel comprising seven representatives from government and charitable organisations. The award signifies Manulife’s outstanding performance in effective communication of ideas, proper use of language, and clever use of graphic design.

This is the sixth accolade Manulife has won since the beginning of the year. This past June, Manulife was a winner of Next Magazine’s “Top Service Awards 2006” in recognition of its commitment to providing professional and quality services for its customers.
