MFC GIM Japan has been honoured for outstanding performance at the 2010 R&I Fund Awards. The Awards honour outstanding performance achieved by investment managers in various product categories. Among these was MFC Global Investment Management Japan’s Japanese Core Fixed Income Active which was recognized in the “Japanese Active Fixed Income 3-Years category.”

Manulife-Sinochem Co. Ltd. was an Award Winner in the "Best Service Features 2009-2010" Category of the Best Customer Service in China Awards, which demonstrates the firm's continued excellence in service and tradition of responsible leadership. According to the survey, John Hancock RPS earned 43 “best-in-class” rankings from clients in a broad range of industries and sectors which span the entire retirement plan services spectrum, from overall impressions of the company to the quality of client account representatives, phone support, administrative services for plan sponsors and more.

John Hancock Life Insurance led the industry in total survivorship life insurance sales in 2009, according to a recent survey of 79 major life insurers by LIMRA International. With survivorship sales of $147.9 million in premium in 2009, John Hancock maintained its number one ranking and also increased its industry-leading market share to almost 20 percent, according to LIMRA’s survey. John Hancock also led the industry in variable life (including variable universal life), with sales of approximately $137.9 million, according to LIMRA.

Lead manager of the High Yield Team Arthur Calavritinos invested the fund to benefit from a resurgence of the airlines; in particular, their "tight-capacity scenario" which he believes is still extant today.
